Long Reach Ethernet

Cisco LRE technology dramatically extends Ethernet over existing Category 1/2/3 wiring at speeds from 5 to 15 Mbps (full duplex) and distances up to 5,000 feet.

Building Broadband Service Manager (BBSM)

Building Broadband Service Manager (BBSM) is the software-based service creation platform for the Building Broadband Solutions for hotels, apartments, office buildings, campuses, and other multi-tenant locations. BBSM software works with in-building LAN infrastructures, including Long-Reach Ethernet (LRE), Ethernet, Cable and Wireless LAN products to provide a complete solution that enables property owners to create, market and operate broadband access services. BBSM provides plug-and-play access and allows customers to self-provision services to reduce support requirements and increase usage. Customizable portals, advertising platforms, and tiered service levels allow property owners and service providers to generate incremental revenue. BBSM supports multiple authentication and billing options, including credit card, RADIUS, property management system and access codes, through either existing interfaces or open APIs.

• Dynamic billing gives the tenant the opportunity to buy more bandwidth on the fly with a credit card. They can opt to purchase more for a day, a week, a month and so forth. These fees go directly to the management company.
  
   
• When logging on to the Internet each tenant is greeted with a log on page. Here, local businesses can pay to post advertisements such as specials specific to that building or local area. This is also a great place for community news letters and events. Another way to build a better sense of community.
